A beautiful expanse of soft, white sands
This white, sandy beach between Dunnet and Castletown is long and wide, spanning over two miles of coastline. It is a great place to visit during your stay with us in Wick, only a half-hour drive away. The sheltered bay is popular for walking, relaxing, picnicking, paddling, surfing and water sports. It’s also a good spot for wildlife watching, as there are many seabirds in the bay, and you can sometimes see seals, or dolphins leaping out of the water.

Very kindly on request the hotel owners arranged a special cake and a helium balloon for my husband a milestone birthday And helped us surprise him ! Would highly recommend and come again.
North Coast Watersports
For adventure seekers, Dunnet Bay is a fantastic location for surfing and water sports. North Coast Watersports runs surfing and stand-up paddleboarding lessons at Dunnet Bay. Beginners are welcome and it is a fantastic way to experience this magnificent beach. They also offer equipment hire for experienced surfers and paddle-boarders who may wish to hire a board and a wet suit.

A haven for wildlife
One of the highlights of a trip to Dunnet Bay is the abundance of wildlife around. Nature lovers will be in their element, with such a wide variety of seabirds. Look out for puffins, gannets, guillemots, razorbills, fulmars and kittiwakes. Dunnet Head is an RSPB Nature Reserve and sometimes they run guided tours and special activities. You may also spot seals and dolphins in the water.
